2. Song: Mantra 3 , Artist: Merzbow , Album: Merzbuddha (Important)
3. Song: In the Multi-Purpose Room , Artist: East West Blast Test , Album: Popular Music for Unpopular People (Ipecac)
  • Comprised of duo Chris Dodge (No Use for a Name) and Dave Witte (Discordance Axis, Municipal Waste, Anodyne, Birds of Prey, Phantomsmasher), East West Blast Test's Popular Music for Unpopular People is a cross-country collaboration (Witte and Dodge live on separate coasts) akin to something Fantômas might put out - xylophones, death metal guitars, and this strange German spoken word track.

4. Song: The Cable Has No Name , Artist: Agata , Album: Spike (Tzadik)
5. Song: Assembler Mix , Artist: Nobukazu Takemura , Album: Ikebana: Merzbow's Amlux Rebuilt, Reused and Recycled (Important)
6. Song: Babylero , Artist: Coil , Album: Horse Rotorvator (Some Bizarre)
7. Song: Wrawblow , Artist: White Mice , Album: BLasssTPhlEgMEICE (Load)

9. Song: Afgamistam , Artist: Botch , Album: An Anthology of Dead Ends (Hydra Head)
10. Song: Micaragua , Artist: Botch , Album: An Anthology of Dead Ends (Hydra Head)

  • The perfect one-two punch (quiet to loud; the tracks flow into each other without a break) ending for Botch's last album before they broke up.

3. Song: Sweet Dreams (Of You) , Artist: Patsy Cline , Album: The Departed (Warner Sunset)
4. Song: Surrender , Artist: Suicide , Album: A Way of Life (Wax Trax!)
  • I always imagine this track as '50s prom song.

6. Song: The Black Pope , Artist: No Neck Blues Band , Album: Qvaris (5 Rue Christine)

First release for Kordova Milk Bar Records, - put out as a benefit to raise money to send inner-city kids to camp based on a sliding scale - which also features contributions from the likes of Usurp Synapse, Thursday, Racebannon, Knives and Greenwater, The Assistant (ex You and I), Pg. 99, The Scarlet Letter, and others.

Episode #23 - Dead Alive

1. Song: Catasstasteatrophy , Artist: White Mice , Album: BLasssTPhlEgMEICE (Load)
2. Song: Untitled , Artist: 16 Bitch Pile Up , Album: Bury Me Deep (Troniks)
  • First off, love the cover art - a throwback to '70s slasher flicks ("The beaches were covered in blood......and so were the bitches!"). This plays like a murkier version of Nurse With Wound's Homotopy to Marie, but with a little more variety in the sense that it's not as cohesive. There's tons of stuff just lurking below the surface, which gives me the feeling that this is one of those albums where you discover something else on each listen. This is the second track ("The Dead Boy Would Not Go Away"(?)), eighteen minutes of somewhat soothing drone.

3. Song: The Death Mask , Artist: JM Ginsberg , Album: Everyday Is Halloween (Self-Released)

  • Creepy children's voices at the end of this track remind me of Tales from the Crypt.

4. Song: Don't Worry Baby , Artist: The Beach Boys , Album: Endless Summer (Capitol)
5. Song: 13465 , Artist: Alec Empire , Album: Generation Star Wars (Mille Plateaux)
6. Song: Washer , Artist: Slint , Album: Spiderland (Touch & Go)
7. Song: Morningside , Artist: Husere Grav , Album: Everyday Is Halloween (Self-Released)
8. Song: Revolution 9 , Artist: The Beatles , Album: The Beatles (Capitol)
9. Song: A Kiss To Build a Dream On , Artist: Louis Armstrong , Album: A Kiss To Build a Dream On (Delta)

  • Added by request.

Episode #22 - Extinction

1. Song: First Scream , Artist: With Love , Album: A Great Circle (Gold Standard Laboratories)
  • Really neat combo CD/DVD from this Italian band. No break between tracks, which, along with the film (which has the album as its soundtrack), makes this seem like some sort of concept album.
2. Song: Sewercide , Artist: White Mice , Album: BLasssTPhlEgMEICE (Load)
3. Song: Theme from the Godfather , Artist: The Professionals , Album: Belize City Boil-Up (Numero Group)
4. Song: The Plague , Artist: The Chinese Stars , Album: Release the Bats: The Birthday Party As Heard Through the Meat Grinder of Three One G (Three One G)
  • Compilation of Birthday Party covers, as the album title suggests. Also features Ex-Models, Les Georges Leningrad, Some Girls, Cattle Decapitation, Error, T-Cells, Daughters (with Lex doing his best Glenn Danzig interpretation), and others. Pretty excellent stuff, and comes on blood-spattered vinyl to boot if you pick up the LP version.
5. Song: Separated , Artist: Throbbing Gristle , Album: Part Two: Endless Not (Mute)
6. Song: Open Body , Artist: Hair Police , Album: Obedience Cuts (Freedom From)
7. Song: Old Year , Artist: Jesu , Album: Conqueror (Hydra Head)

Episode #8 - The Infected

This episode is a Part Two of sorts to Episode #7. It's a pretty claustrophobic mix as a whole, there's really no room to stop for air, which I think contrasts nicely with a lot of the drone and ambience present in the last episode.

1. Song: (Intro) Engineering a Pill Frenzy , Artist: Agoraphobic Nosebleed , Album: Frozen Corpse Stuffed With Dope (Relapse)
2. Song: Saddest , Artist: Drumcorps , Album: Cock Rock Disco 2006 (Cock Rock Disco)
  • Grindcore mash-up, for lack of a better term, of Converge's "The Saddest Day" condensed to about a minute-thirty (from around seven minutes), so you can imagine how insane this shit is. Apparently Drumcorps, also known as Aaron Spectre, does whole albums of this stuff, combining breakcore with grindcore and blast beats. His 2006 album Grist, also pulls material from Botch, Pig Destroyer, and Cave In, and this song is also on a free Cock Rock Disco sampler available for download at their website. I may have to pick this album up.

3. Song: Untitled , Artist: The Pervatrons , Album: Songs of the Dead II: Idle Hands (And Here My Troubles Began)
4. Song: A .45 Caliber Defibrillator, a Prototype of Sorts , Artist: Found Dead Hanging , Album: BMA Vs Metal Blade Vs Robotic Empire Sampler 2004 (Black Market Activities / Metal Blade / Robotic Empire)
5. Song: About a Plane Crash , Artist: Suicide Silence , Album: Suicide Silence (Third Degree)
6. Song: Imogen's Puzzle , Artist: Psyopus , Album: Ideas of Reference (Metal Blade)
7. Song: Horror Theme Song , Artist: Suicide Note , Album: Songs of the Dead II: Idle Hands (And Here My Troubles Began)
8. Song: - , Artist: Merzbow , Album: Merzbuta (Important)

  • Not to be confused with the album Merzbuddha, also on Important Records.

9. Song: You Can't Help Me , Artist: Pedestrian Deposit , Album: Fatale (Hanson)

  • Interesting album, this one. Four tracks that alternate between harsh noise ala John Wiese and ambient, melodic interludes.

10. Song: The White Mice , Artist: White Mice , Album: ASSPhiXXXEATATESHUN (Load)
11. Song: Descent to Mimas , Artist: Bastard Noise , Album: Descent to Mimas (Ground Fault)
12. Song: Untitled , Artist: Last Remaining Pinnacle , Album: Songs of the Dead II: Idle Hands (And Here My Troubles Began)
13. Song: Woe is the Contagion , Artist: Twilight , Album: Twilight (Southern Lord)
14. Song: Jones From Indiana , Artist: Daughters , Album: Canada Songs (Robotic Empire)
15. Song: Willie Loman , Artist: Ed Gein , Album: Ed Gein (Hex)

  • I actually pulled this from the long out-of-print self-titled three-song demo CD (self-released I'd imagine), although it's also available on the LP version (along with the other two demo tracks) of It's a Shame That a Family Can Be Torn Apart by Something as Simple as a Pack of Wild Dogs on Hex Records.

16. Song: On Top , Artist: Whitehouse , Album: Birthdeath Experience (Come Organisation)
17. Song: Born Different , Artist: Usurp Synapse , Album: Disinformation Fix (Alone)

  • From the double-CD discography. These guys reformed in July 2004 to record new material, and are currently in the process of mixing and finishing vocals for their next album, titled Vile Contamina.

18. Song: (The Pipes) , Artist: Excepter , Album: Alternation (5 Rue Christine)
19. Song: SGNL>02 , Artist: Isis , Album: Celestial (Escape Artist)
20. Song: Intro , Artist: Pig Destroyer , Album: Terrifyer (Relapse)
