• There's a bunch interesting stuff coming out of the UK's Type Records lately, including this album, the new offering from Svarte Grenier, plus Xela's In Bocca Al Lupo, Koen Holtkamp's Field Rituals, and Grouper's Dragging A Dead Deer Up a Hill, which has been widely praised, although I have a hard time getting into it myself.

• Like the album name implies, a compilation of Cure covers from the hardcore/metal community. In addition to this cut, features tracks from Cave In ("Plainsong"), Chimaira ("Fascination Street"), Bad Luck Thirteen Riot Extravaganza ("Pictures of You"), and others.

• Giffoni curates New York's annual No Fun Fest, usually held at The Hook. This year's lineup, scheduled for May 17-20, includes Hair Police, Merzbow, Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), The Rita, Keiji Haino, Aaron Dilloway (Wolf Eyes), and Giffoni himself. He's also the guitarist for Monotract, and does electronics for noise supergroup Death Unit, which also features Chris Corsano, Trevor Tremaine (of Hair Police), and Brian Sullivan (Mouthus).
