Episode #32 - Dead Air

1. Song: Lord Winter , Artist: Death In June , Album: Rose Clouds of Holocaust (NER)
2. Song: The Rite of Infernal Invocation , Artist: Gorgoroth , Album: Under the Sign of Hell (Century Media)
3. Song: Terrible Canyons of Static , Artist: Godspeed You Black Emperor! , Album: Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven! (Kranky)
4. Song: The Tumultuous Upsurge , Artist: Nurse With Wound , Album: Homotopy to Marie (United Diaries)
5. Song: Deep In the Woods , Artist: T Cells , Album: Release the Bats: The Birthday Party as Heard Through the Meat Grinder of Three One G (Three One G)
  • From opener Cattle Decapitation's rendition of "Sonny's Burning" to closer Some Girls' "Release the Bats" (fitting that they would play the title track if you consider their popularity when this came out), Release the Bats is an excellent compilation tribute to The Birthday Party (Nick Cave's first band; see also: Grinderman). Only a few duds here, with highlights coming from the likes of Melt Banana ("Faint Heart"), The Chinese Stars ("The Plague", which previously aired in Episode #22), Error ("Wild World"), Celebration ("King Ink"; ex-Love Life), Kill Me Tomorrow ("Junkyard"), Daughters (see below), the aforementioned tracks from Cattle Decap and Some Girls, as well as this nauseating little ditty from T Cells that'll make your stomach swim.

6. Song: We All Die! , Artist: Alec Empire , Album: The Destroyer (Digital Hardcore)
7. Song: Humanshields , Artist: Drumcorps , Album: Rmx or Die (Kriss)
8. Song: Budapest , Artist: Poni Hoax , Album: Poni Hoax (Tigersushi)
9. Song: Marry Me (Lie Lie) , Artist: Daughters , Album: Release the Bats: The Birthday Party as Heard Through the Meat Grinder of Three One G (Three One G)

  • Lex does his best Danzig impression, which turned out to be stylistic foreshadowing for Daughters' 2006 album Hell Songs.
